RSNA 2005

The RSNA 2005 meeting attracted approximately 60,000 heathcare decision-makers from all over the world, including radiologists and other imaging professionals. The mission of the Radiological Society of North America is to promote and develop the highest standards of radiology and related sciences through education and research.

The FONAR exhibit, which is regularly among the larger in the show, featured a full-size model of the Upright™ MRI with a fully operational patient handling system located at the center of the Company’s highly attractive 80’ by 80’ exhibit.

Live presentations were made throughout the day to visitors in the large theatre area surrounding the Upright™ MRI. Guests were invited to “take a ride” on the multi-directional bed, or to sit and watch a video segment on the 42” flat screen TV that comes standard with the unit. RSNA 2005: FONAR live show

Francis W. Smith, M.D. of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and pioneer in the field of magnetic resonance imaging was one of the keynote speakers at the FONAR exhibit.

Dr. Smith said, “We have scanned thousands of patients in a multitude of positions and have completed several clinical studies using our FONAR Upright™ MRI. We routinely scan spines in five positions, -- normal, upright, in flexion, in extension, rotation, and laterally - none of which can be duplicated on any other MRI scanner. Our diagnoses are based upon the full complement of information derived from all the important spinal postures, and we subsequently monitor every patient’s treatment and progress. I can say unequivocally that Position™ imaging improves patient outcome.”
