PHYSICIANS STAND-UP MRI Purchases its Third FONAR Upright MRI
and Plans To Buy Four More Per Year Over The Next Several Years

MELVILLE, NEW YORK, November 18, 2005 - FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR), The Inventor of MR Scanning, announced today the 16th sale in Texas of FONAR's Upright™ MRI. With their FONAR Upright™ MRI scanner in operation for 9 months and the opening of their second in January,
2006 in San Antonio, PHYSICIANS STAND-UP MRI has now ordered their third FONAR Upright MRI. PHYSICIANS STAND-UP MRI is the 22nd FONAR customer to make repeat purchases of the Upright™ MRI. Approximately one in three Upright™ MRI customers have made multiple purchases.
Mr. Clint Sands, President/CEO of Physicians Stand-Up MRI, said, "We are excited to be among the first to incorporate Upright™ Position™ MRI technology in our business plan. Going forward, we expect to purchase another four FONAR Upright™ MRI scanners per year for the foreseeable future. We are very excited about the technology and the benefits it brings to patients suffering from back pain."
"If the MRI can't see it, the physician can't fix it, is what we tell our referring physicians," said Mr. Sands.
"If a patient's problem is back pain that manifests itself ONLY when the spine is weight-loaded, sitting, standing, or in the flexion or extension position, then it is common sense that you need to image the spine fully weight loaded in the same position that elicits the pain. Failure to do so, in our experience, can miss the pathology altogether. Our physicians don't want to miss pathology. They don’t want to make the wrong diagnoses."
"The Upright™ MRI, because it images the patient's spine under a full weight load, both in the flexion and extension positions, which the regular MRI's cannot, enables us to often see pathology that conventional MRI"s miss."
"But there are more reasons for our investment in a third Upright™ MRI and why we intend to buy more of them. Patients love the friendliness of the Upright. They literally enter, sit down and relax. All the apprehension typical of patients preparing themselves for a conventional MRI instantly evaporates as he relaxes into the comfort of the scanner's cushioned seat and watches TV. Working with the FONAR staff has also been a pleasure. Their site planning, installation, customer service and application departments are very professional and unfailingly attentive to our needs. FONAR and its Upright™ MRI scanner are good for our patients as well as for our business."
The first Physicians Stand-Up MRI is located at 797 Lonesome Dove Trail at Precinct Line Road in Hurst, Texas. It serves both Dallas and Ft. Worth and is centrally located in the Mid-Cities area. The telephone number is 817/577-7500. The Web sites is www.psumri.com. The second scanner will open in San Antonio, Texas in January, 2006.

About FONAR

FONAR was incorporated in 1978, making it the first, oldest and most experienced MRI manufacturer in the industry. FONAR introduced the world's first commercial MRI in 1980, and went public in 1981. Since its inception, we have installed nearly 300 MRI scanners worldwide. FONAR's stellar product line includes the Upright™ MRI (also known as the Stand-Up™ MRI), the only whole-body MRI that performs Position™ imaging (pMRI™) and scans patients in numerous weight-bearing positions, i.e. standing, sitting, in flexion and extension, as well as the conventional lie-down position. The FONAR Upright™ MRI often sees the patient's problem that other scanners cannot because they are lie-down only. With over 100,000 patients scanned, the patient-friendly Upright™ MRI has a near zero claustrophobic rejection rate by patients. As a FONAR customer states, "If the patient is claustrophobic in this scanner, they'll be claustrophobic in my parking lot." Approximately 85% of patients are scanned sitting while they watch a 42" flat screen TV. Our latest MRI scanner is the FONAR 360™, a room-size recumbent scanner that optimizes openness while facilitating physician access to the patient. FONAR is headquartered on Long Island, New York, and has approximately 500 employees.
