FONAR Sells Fifth UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI
to Major Florida Radiology Center
MELVILLE,
NEW YORK, June 11, 2009 - FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR),
The Inventor of MR Scanning™, announced today it has sold
a fifth UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI scanner to Rose
Radiology Centers, the major radiology group on Florida’s
West Coast. Rose Radiology has ten offices in the greater Tampa
area. Most of the offices offer MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, and
Mammography, while other Rose Radiology Centers also offer Fluoroscopy,
DEXA, and PET/CT.
Manuel S. Rose, M.D., President & Founder
of Rose Radiology Centers, stated, “Over the years we
have had countless patients who have benefited considerably
from the FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI, which
we call TruSCAN MRI. In fact, on the first day we were open
for business, we were able to make a spine diagnosis on a patient
that other MRI scanners had failed to diagnose. The diagnosis
led to a successful surgery, which relieved the persistent pain
the patient had experienced.”
On January 3, 2002, Dr. Rose announced the opening
of the UPRIGHT® MRI at the Imaging Center at Boot Ranch
in Palm Harbor, Florida. This was the first UPRIGHT® MRI
in Florida as well as the second in the world. There are currently
16 UPRIGHT® MRIs in Florida.
Raymond Damadian, founder and president of FONAR
said, “We are delighted to see that Dr. Rose has purchased
his 5th FONAR UPRIGHT® MRI for Rose Radiology Centers. Dr.
Rose knows from experience that for patients with back pain,
the UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI lets doctors see
the "WHOLE PICTURE", instead of just a "PART
OF IT" which the lie-down single-position MRIs are limited
to. Because of their ability to visualize the spine of their
back pain patients fully weight-loaded and in all of its body
positions, they can plan their treatment procedures, particularly
surgery, more accurately and thereby achieve superior surgical
outcomes for the patient.”
