FONAR Announces Installation
of Upright MRI to Re-peat Customer in Florida; Sarasota Facility
is Third Rose Radiology Center to Utilize FONAR Upright MRI
Technology
MELVILLE,
NEW YORK, December 21, 2004 - FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR),
The MRI Specialist™, today announced the installation
of its Upright™ MRI at Rose Radiology - Sarasota. This
center is the third Rose Radiology facility in Florida to utilize
the FONAR technology. Rose Radiology - Sarasota is located at
4917 Clark Road. The new center opened on September 7, 2004.
Manuel S. Rose, M.D., president and founder of Rose Radiology
Centers, Inc. said "Our Upright™ MRI has been very
successful in the Tampa area and we now have installed our third
one. Roughly half of all MRI scans are of the spine and the
Upright™ MRI's multi-position capability sees pathology
that is missed by recumbent-only scanners. This allows us to
provide the best interpretations to our referring physicians
for their patients."
Dr. Rose presented at the FONAR exhibit at the recent Radiological
Society of North America Exhibition (RSNA) in Chicago. "As
a successful user of Upright™ Imaging I welcomed the opportunity
to speak on FONAR's behalf," said Dr. Rose. "My presentation
was titled 'The Value of Upright Spinal MRI' and illustrated
what multi-positioning does for diagnosing the spine."
"Rose Radiology has evaluated over 10,000 exams on the
Upright™ MRI," said Dr. Rose. "I can tell you
from all of this experience that when it comes to the spine,
there is no other MRI that can beat the FONAR Upright™
MRI."
Raymond V. Damadian, president and founder of FONAR said, "Dr.
Rose is a pioneer in the field of Upright™ imaging, having
purchased one of the first FONAR Upright™ MRI scanners
on the market in 2001. He and his staff of Board Certified radiologists
are strong proponents of our technology. As a result, Dr. Rose
and his staff have given numerous lectures on the benefits of
the FONAR Upright™ MRI throughout the state of Florida
and across the U.S., most recently at the RSNA Conference in
Chicago. The opening of this third center in Sarasota, Florida
demonstrates Dr. Rose's conviction for and commitment to Upright™
imaging. FONAR appreciates his support and dedication throughout
the years, and we wish him much success in his latest venture."
Rose Radiology - Sarasota is a full service, state-of-the-art
practice with all new equipment. The facility was constructed
specifically to be a center for advanced diagnostic imaging.

About FONAR
FONAR was incorporated in 1978, making it the first, oldest
and most experienced MRI manufacturer in the industry. FONAR
introduced the world's first commercial MRI in 1980, and went
public in 1981. Since its inception, we have installed nearly
300 MRI scanners worldwide. FONAR's stellar product line includes
the Upright™ MRI (also known as the Stand-Up™ MRI),
the only whole-body MRI that performs Position™ imaging
(pMRI™) and scans patients in numerous weight-bearing
positions, i.e. standing, sitting, in flexion and extension,
as well as the conventional lie-down position. With over 100,000
patients scanned, the patient-friendly Upright™ MRI has
a near zero claustrophobic rejection rate by patients. Approximately
85% of patients are scanned sitting while they watch a 42"
flat screen TV. Our latest MRI scanner is the FONAR 360™,
a room-size recumbent scanner that optimizes openness while
facilitating physician access to the patient. FONAR is headquartered
on Long Island, New York, and has approximately 500 employees.
